Kılıçdaroğlu appears alongside Berhan Şimşek, who was involved in a domestic violence incident

Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu being seen alongside Berhan Şimşek at the camp held in Bolu has become a subject of new debate within the CHP and among the public.

Kılıçdaroğlu, who is stated to have assumed the position of CHP Chairman following the "absolute nullity" decision by the Ankara Regional Court of Justice, had previously sent a message that a "purification" would take place within the party. However, it drew attention that Kılıçdaroğlu appeared in the same frame as Şimşek, who had previously come to the fore with allegations regarding footage of violence against a woman and issues concerning Social Security Institution (SGK) records.

Berhan Şimşek had resigned from his post as deputy chairman after footage allegedly showing him committing violence against Özlem Şanver was reflected in the public eye. In a statement he made at the time, Şimşek defended himself regarding the incident in the footage, stating, "What would you do if someone threw a plate at your head? I just kicked out my foot."

Şimşek's name had also come to the fore regarding the SGK service records belonging to his private driver, Mustafa Tonbul. It was alleged that in the records in question, Tonbul's insurance premiums and salary payments were not covered by Şimşek, but rather through various different private companies.
