Kılıçdaroğlu responds to question on IMM presidency: It cannot be done through dirty tricks

Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, who was brought to the position of Chairman following a court decision within the CHP, answered journalists' questions on the final day of the parliamentary group retreat held in Bolu Abant.

Kılıçdaroğlu was asked what stance the CHP would take in the election to be held for the IMM presidency should Istanbul Metropolitan Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu receive a sentence.

Kılıçdaroğlu responded to this question by saying, "Since the public elected the CHP, then someone from the CHP must come and continue the mayoral duties there. Morality requires this."

Continuing his statement, Kılıçdaroğlu emphasized that the mayorship is determined by the will of the voters, stating, "You come in through dirty tricks, money, and by buying people's will for votes that the public did not give, and you declare yourself mayor. Erdoğan needs to know this too. It cannot be done through dirty tricks, it cannot be done with money, it cannot be done with stamps."

Kılıçdaroğlu also responded to a question regarding Ankara Metropolitan Mayor Mansur Yavaş not attending the program held at Anıtkabir as part of the CHP's anniversary and his subsequent resignation from the CHP. Kılıçdaroğlu said, "Just as we do not force anyone to become a member of the party, we have not forced anyone out of the party either. We must respect his own choice. He has likely made his assessment and charted his own path."

Regarding the question of whether Mansur Yavaş would be the opposition's joint presidential candidate, Kılıçdaroğlu stated that he does not find it appropriate to start discussions on presidential candidacy today.
