Kılıçdaroğlu’s 'purification' video catches the attention of pro-government figures: A record number of shares

The video message shared by Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu on social media, which begins with the phrase, "To the conscientious, patriotic, and noble citizens of this beautiful country...", has brought new debates to the political arena. Coming in the shadow of recent increasing pressures within the CHP and allegations of operations against the party, this post resonated quickly among both opposition voters and the ruling front.

While themes of purification and internal reckoning stand out in the video, Kılıçdaroğlu’s message received harsh criticism from the opposition base, contrary to expectations. Conversely, the positive approach shown by AK Party representatives and the pro-government wing, who had taken a harsh stance against him during the May 14 elections, drew attention.

Political experts interpreted this move as a potential attempt to deepen a new rift within the main opposition party against the current administration. As posts from the AK Party front increased, media members close to the government and some former CHP members also joined the list.

Among the political and media figures who embraced Kılıçdaroğlu’s video and supported it through their social media accounts were Şamil Tayyar, Mücahit Birinci, Zafer Şahin, Hacı Yakışıklı, Sinan Burhan, Fuat Uğur, Buket Aydın, Fatih Atik, Gürkan Hacır, and Taha Hüseyin Karagöz. It was also noted that names such as Barış Yarkadaş, who was expelled from the CHP, and Gürsel Tekin, who was appointed as a trustee to the Istanbul Provincial Presidency, also shared the post.

Following the video post, opposition users in particular joined the agenda with thousands of reactions and critical comments on social media. The fact that AK Party actors highlighted the video further increased these criticisms.
