Kılıçdaroğlu's sign taken down: 'He is carrying water to the AKP's mill'

The first concrete reaction to former CHP Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu's call for a "purification" within the party has come from Düzce. CHP Akçakoca District Chairman Tuğrul Abanoz removed Kılıçdaroğlu's photograph from the district headquarters and published a very harsh manifesto on social media.

The debates over the party convention and leadership within the Republican People's Party (CHP) have begun to turn into radical steps at the local level. Following former Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu's "purification" message to the organization, Düzce Akçakoca District Chairman Tuğrul Abanoz took action and removed the photograph of Kılıçdaroğlu from the wall of the party building.

KILIÇDAROĞLU'S SIGN TAKEN DOWN: "HE IS CARRYING WATER TO THE AKP'S MILL"

Announcing his action and its justifications on the social media platform Facebook, Tuğrul Abanoz argued that the decision was not just a local reaction. Criticizing Kılıçdaroğlu's policies with harsh words, Abanoz included the following statements in his post:

"Today, not only in Akçakoca but all across Turkey, on behalf of our people, we acknowledge that Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu has led our party down an ideologically and strategically wrong path, and we are taking his symbol down from our walls. This decision is a demand for the people's search for truth and for an honest and upright stance in politics. These attitudes of Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu mean nothing other than carrying water to the AKP's mill. These discourses and policies are harming the country's democratic future."

"IF AN ABSOLUTE NULLITY COMES, YOU WILL FIND A NEW CHAIRMAN"

Following these developments, District Chairman Abanoz issued a clear challenge to the party administration and Kılıçdaroğlu supporters, defying any potential legal or administrative intervention (absolute nullity). Referring to the administration that might follow him, Abanoz concluded his statement with this striking sentence:

"We stand not for the interests of the AKP, but for the will of the people and the benefit of the nation. We are taking this picture down; if an absolute nullity comes, you will find a new administration and a new chairman to put your picture back up."
