Koray Aydın announces: Number of candidates in İYİ Party officially rises to 4

Following İYİ Party leader Meral Akşener's announcement that she will not be a candidate at the Extraordinary Elective Congress, Koray Aydın has also announced his candidacy. Thus, the number of candidates in the İYİ Party has risen to 4.

İYİ Party Chair Meral Akşener had stated the day after the election, following calls for her resignation, that the party would head to an Extraordinary Elective Congress.

Following Akşener's announcement of the Congress, İYİ Party Founders' Board Member Günay Kodaz and İYİ Party Deputy Chair Responsible for Migration Policies Mehmet Tolga Akalın had announced their candidacies.

After Akşener announced on X that she would not be a candidate at the Congress, İYİ Party Parliamentary Group Deputy Chair and İzmir MP Müsavat Dervişoğlu also announced his candidacy.

KORAY AYDIN ALSO BECAME A CANDIDATE

Following the 3 candidates, the İYİ Party Group Chair also announced that he would be a candidate.

Aydın said the following in his post on X:

"Great Turkish nation, Dear members of the İYİ Party,

As is known, our İYİ Party has taken the decision to hold an Elective Extraordinary Congress on April 27, 2024. In this context, as a result of the consultations I have held since the day the decision was taken with our MPs, party administrators, provincial and district chairs, congress delegates, and many comrades who have contributed to our party, I have decided to become a candidate for Chair.

I would like to thank our Chair, Ms. Meral Akşener, who founded our Party with great sacrifices, brought it to this day, paved the way for our Party with the Extraordinary Congress decision she took, and announced that she would not be a candidate again.

With the aim of getting our İYİ Party, of which I was the Founding Organization Chair and which we raised like a child, back on its feet, ensuring it becomes a hope for Turkey once again, and bringing together all our comrades who have labored for our Party in a spirit of unity, integrity, and brotherhood; we have set out on a blessed path.

May our intention be good, and may our outcome be good.

May Almighty God be our helper and supporter.

I will make a comprehensive statement regarding my candidacy in the coming days. We will announce the location, date, and time of our statement on our social media accounts."
