Letter from terrorist leader Abdullah Öcalan read in Şanlıurfa

The Peoples' Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) held a rally titled 'Speak Up for Peace' in Şanlıurfa on the occasion of September 1 World Peace Day.

The rally began with the reading of a letter from Abdullah Öcalan, the leader of the terrorist organization PKK.

The terrorist leader's letter included the following statements:

"Our call for peace and a democratic solution is not an ordinary political move, but a strategic step and a historic turning point. With this call, the doors to a new era have been opened wide, where a democratic life based on peace will replace wars and destruction both in Turkey and across the Middle East. This is not merely a wish, but a powerful opportunity and a concrete reality that must be built with serious, practical steps.

Because true peace is not just the silencing of weapons or the end of conflicts. True peace is possible only when freedom, democracy, and social justice are embodied in all areas of life. This social transformation is not just a right for our people, but also the fundamental duty of the new era ahead. With the struggle of our peoples, the values of peace, democracy, and freedom will inevitably find their place in social life.

From now on, this country will be the homeland of those who see peace and democratic life as both their right and their duty. On the occasion of September 1, I call on our peoples to embrace this historic duty and to further grow the march for peace and freedom.

With the belief that everyone will grasp the seriousness of this period, review themselves, and act in accordance with the spirit of peace, I greet you all with my unending love and respect.

Following the reading of terrorist leader Öcalan's letter, DEM Party Co-Chair Tuncer Bakırhan delivered a speech at the rally.

Asserting that they are on the side of peace, Bakırhan called for everyone to support the new resolution process, referred to as a 'Terror-Free Turkey.' Stating their belief that peace is beneficial for everyone, Bakırhan noted that arms barons do not want peace.

Bakırhan said, "May September 1 Peace Day be auspicious for all of us, for the oppressed peoples, the laborers, and the women. Are you ready to build a democratic Turkey by struggling together as comrades and friends, shoulder to shoulder, through this door that Öcalan has opened? Are the people of Urfa ready? Look around us; they are trying to solve problems with violence, weapons, and wars. The Middle East is a bloodbath, there is war in Ukraine, war in Yemen; in many parts of the world, they are trying to suppress those seeking their rights with weapons and war.

In other words, while we are surrounded by war and conflict, Öcalan has made a very important breakthrough in these lands, in this country, for problems to be solved not through violence, war, and conflict, but through dialogue and negotiation. Those who lose in war are the laborers, the peoples, and most of all, women. The winners of war are the sovereigns and the arms barons. We are on the side of peace. We are on the side of peace. We will continue to stand by Öcalan's peace manifesto."
