Life sentence for murder at HÜDA PAR provincial headquarters

HÜDA PAR Adana Provincial Headquarters was entered on July 22, 2023, by Ali Sever, who used a knife to kill HÜDA PAR Provincial Secretary Sacit Pişgin and wound Provincial Chairman Salih Demir.
The final hearing of the case opened against Sever, who was arrested following the incident, was held at the Adana 14th High Criminal Court. The detained defendant, Ali Sever, attended the hearing via the Audio and Video Information System (SEGBİS) from the prison where he is being held. Complainant Salih Demir and the lawyers for both parties were present in the courtroom. HÜDA PAR Chairman Zekeriya Yapıcıoğlu, Deputy Chairman Mehmet Hüseyin Yılmaz, HÜDA PAR Adana Provincial Chairman Fetullah Çiçek, and former district chairmen also followed the hearing.
In his final defense, the detained defendant Ali Sever claimed that the property housing the HÜDA PAR Adana provincial headquarters belonged to him. Sever stated the following:
"They turned the HÜDA PAR provincial building where the incident took place into a party headquarters without my permission. Did they ask me when they were making it a party building? Furthermore, I do not accept the status of defendant directed at me. I am not a defendant. I killed 5 people there."
Following his defense, defendant Sever lashed out at former provincial chairman Salih Demir, who was present in the courtroom and was wounded in the incident, insulting him by calling him "fat".

COURT VERDICTS
The public prosecutor reiterated his opinion on the merits, requesting that the defendant be punished for the crimes of 'intentional killing', 'attempted intentional killing', and 'violation of residential immunity' and that his detention continue.
The lawyers for the complainant stated that the defendant's defenses were aimed at evading the crime and that he committed the act intentionally and with premeditation, requesting that he be punished for the crime of 'qualified intentional killing'.
The court panel sentenced defendant Ali Sever to life imprisonment for 'intentional killing', 11 years for 'attempted intentional killing', and 1 year for 'violation of residential immunity', and decided that his detention should continue.
