Major contradiction in İmamoğlu espionage investigation: Traveled freely despite being labeled a spy
It has emerged that Hüseyin Gün, the central figure in the "political espionage" investigation targeting CHP's imprisoned presidential candidate Ekrem İmamoğlu, traveled in and out of Turkey multiple times for months despite being reported to authorities, and no restrictions were placed on his passport.

Striking details have emerged regarding the travels and status of Hüseyin Gün, the lead figure in the "political espionage" investigation launched against CHP Deputy Chairman and imprisoned presidential candidate Ekrem İmamoğlu. It was determined that despite being reported to authorities by Ü.D.A., the son of his foster mother, Gün entered and exited Turkey multiple times following the report, and no restrictions were applied to his passport.
According to a report by Can Bursalı from Gazete Pencere, Ü.D.A. called 112 on March 2, 2025, and alleged that Hüseyin Gün was working on behalf of the US and Israel. Following the report, the Istanbul Police Department's Counter-Terrorism Branch took a statement from Ü.D.A. on March 6.
In his statement, he claimed that Gün was in contact not only with the US and Israel but also with British intelligence, had organized a coup attempt in Uzbekistan, used a cryptophone, and made negative remarks about President Erdoğan. However, despite these serious accusations, no detention proceedings were initiated against Hüseyin Gün, and no travel ban was imposed.
ENTRIES AND EXITS TO TURKEY
It was determined that after the report on March 2, Hüseyin Gün entered and exited Turkey multiple times. Returning to Turkey from the US on April 4 and from Greece on May 29, Gün also traveled to various other countries, such as Rwanda and Greece, during this period. In none of these travels were any restrictions placed on Gün's passport, nor did he encounter any obstacles at border crossings.
CAPTURED ON JUNE 30, FILE DIRECTED TOWARD İMAMOĞLU
Hüseyin Gün was captured on June 30. However, a striking detail emerged in the investigation file regarding him. In the statement Gün gave on July 4, neither Ekrem İmamoğlu's nor Necati Özkan's names were mentioned. Gün only stated that he knew journalist Merdan Yanardağ "through his foster mother." Despite this, the investigation file was subsequently directed toward the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) and Ekrem İmamoğlu.
TRAVELED FREELY DESPITE BEING CALLED A "SPY"
It is understood that Hüseyin Gün, who was portrayed as a "dangerous spy" in pro-government media, traveled freely for approximately four months after the report and encountered no legal obstacles. During this time, Gün did not face any passport restrictions or border blocks regarding his travels abroad.
