Major row in CHP following 'purchased with illicit money' note: WhatsApp group shut down after exchange of insults

Management debates in the CHP, which began following the court's "absolute nullity" ruling, have now spilled over into the party's internal WhatsApp group. Fierce arguments broke out among deputies after two luxury vehicles were parked in front of the CHP Headquarters with notes reading "Purchased with illicit money" placed on them.

While eyes turned to the party leadership following Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu's return to the chairman's seat, developments throughout the day yesterday further raised tensions within the CHP.

KILIÇDAROĞLU'S "CONGRESS" STATEMENT

Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu made assessments regarding the congress process in a statement to members of the press yesterday.

Kılıçdaroğlu stated that the congress would be held after the Court of Cassation completes its appellate review.

Following the statement, a notable protest took place in front of the CHP Headquarters later in the day.

"PURCHASED WITH ILLICIT MONEY" WRITTEN ON LUXURY VEHICLES

A note reading "Purchased with illicit money" was left on two luxury vehicles displayed in front of the CHP Headquarters.

The name of Aziz İhsan Aktaş, who is alleged to be a criminal organization leader, was written on the license plate of one of the vehicles, while the name of the imprisoned Uşak Mayor Özkan Yalım appeared on the license plate of the other.

The images in question quickly became one of the most discussed topics on the political agenda.

"VEHICLES WERE SYMBOLIC" STATEMENT ISSUED

As the debates continued, it emerged that the vehicles were purchased with the CHP's own budget and that one of the vehicles had been used by Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu as an official car in the past.

Following this, Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu's press advisor Atakan Sönmez issued a statement.

Sönmez stated that the vehicles left in front of the Headquarters were displayed for "symbolic" purposes and that the vehicles had no direct connection to Aziz İhsan Aktaş or Özkan Yalım.

HARSH MESSAGE FROM MAHMUT TANAL

The vehicle crisis was later carried over to the WhatsApp group containing CHP deputies.

It was reported that CHP Şanlıurfa Deputy Mahmut Tanal sent messages containing very harsh expressions to the group regarding the vehicles displayed in the Headquarters garden.

It was alleged that Tanal criticized Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu and the new management with heavy language in his messages.

DEBATE TURNED INTO AN EXCHANGE OF INSULTS

It was stated that the debate grew after CHP İzmir Deputy Mahir Polat and some deputies close to Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu responded to Mahmut Tanal's messages.

While it was noted that the argument between the parties quickly turned into an exchange of insults, it was reported that the WhatsApp group containing CHP deputies was closed to comments following the tension.
