Regarding his relationship with Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, Mansur Yavaş stated that they have different political roadmaps, saying, "Mayor Ekrem is my companion. 'I AM NOT ANYONE'S BACKUP'

ABB Mayor Yavaş stated, "I am not anyone's backup, I would not lower myself to that position," noting that such rhetoric is unacceptable both humanly and politically.

In the continuation of his message, Yavaş included the following statements:

"The party has made a decision and I respect it. I will not take part in the debates and I will never position myself in a way that would make the CHP appear disorganized.

Mayor Ekrem is my companion. However, I also have my own political roadmap. I have previously stated that we would sit down and talk about these when the day comes. Of course, we will send our message wishing the meeting well. However, naturally, I am not considering attending the meeting on Saturday for now."
