Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mansur Yavaş opened his first election office in Keçiören, the district where AKP's Ankara candidate Turgut Altınok serves as mayor.
Speaking at the opening, which saw high attendance, Mansur Yavaş said, "Despite all the mudslinging, we have removed discrimination from the sidewalks of Ankara. We have completely eliminated the concept of 'they are working, but...' We have shown everyone that Ankara can be managed honestly."
Stating, "You have seen the injustice and the absurdity in the Municipal Council," Yavaş continued as follows:
"Even though we received more votes, our number in the Municipal Council remained low. Keçiören is unlucky in this regard. For years, the Metropolitan Municipality and the Keçiören Municipality have always been at odds. We hoped that such a thing would not happen. Despite all our approaches, it did not happen."
"TIME TO END THE DEBATE"
Providing the information that, "We will announce our Keçiören Mayoral Candidate soon," Yavaş said, "The time has come to end this debate. The time has come for us to elect a mayor who will hold hands with me and work with me for Keçiören."
HE ALSO WANTS THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL
Yavaş further stated, "We need a mayor who can be a companion to us; we will elect them from here, secure our majority in the Municipal Council membership, and provide very beautiful services to Ankara."
"NATIONALISM" REMARK
Finally, emphasizing that they are not seasonal nationalists, Yavaş said, "We are directly Turkish nationalists, let everyone know this. We nailed the T.C. (Republic of Turkey) signs that had been removed back in their places the week we arrived."
