Mansur Yavaş speaks at the City Council's iftar program: 'This is how we can prevent it...'

Ankara City Council organized an iftar program at Gençlik Park. The "Culture to Culture Iftar Program" was attended by Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mansur Yavaş, the 16 district mayors won by the CHP in Ankara, sector representatives from the business world, heads of non-governmental organizations, representatives from universities, and artists. 

"I HOPE THEY WILL JOIN HANDS WITH US THIS TIME"

Yavaş, who attended the program, gave a speech there and said, "We must have a difference. Our difference should be not to marginalize. It should be not to discriminate against anyone. If we stand out with this characteristic, we will integrate society," and continued as follows:

"This is the only way we can prevent those who want to polarize. I believe that all my elected mayors will act in the same way, spend resources on real needs without wasting them, and that mayors elected from other parties will see what was done in the municipal council over the past five years and realize how our complaints to the public about their actions resonated with the people during the election, and I hope they will join hands with us this time. We will continue to serve 6 million Ankara residents as 25 mayors.

EMPHASIS ON COMMON SENSE

We want to expand our common sense even further by including former bureaucrats and experts in their fields in the City Council, creating an assembly for every issue, and benefiting from their wisdom and experience. Our greatest goal is to revive Ankara's historical and cultural values, starting especially from Ulus. These are very special places. Right where we are sitting, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk personally walked and watched the construction of Gençlik Park.

If you go further, the Atatürk Forest Farm is an area he personally took an interest in. The place where the Grand National Assembly of Turkey was founded is 300 meters from here. Therefore, these areas are very, very important to us. A manager who lives in these places must feel this. They must also convey this to the public. We will try to pay our debt, at least, by joining hands as six million Ankara residents to make this Ankara, which Mustafa Kemal Atatürk entrusted to us, worthy of world capitals.”
