Mansur Yavaş expresses disappointment with Kılıçdaroğlu: 'I never expected this attitude'

Journalist Ünsal Ünlü received thoughts from Yavaş regarding recent developments following his meeting with former CHP leader Kılıçdaroğlu concerning the "absolute nullity" debate in the lawsuit related to the CHP congress. Yavaş stated that he did not expect this attitude from Kılıçdaroğlu regarding the nullity debate. Yavaş also made a striking comment on a potential nullity ruling, saying, "They are able to market it today. None of these people will be able to find a screen to appear on tomorrow."

I NEVER EXPECTED THIS ATTITUDE

Ankara Metropolitan Municipality (ABB) Mayor Mansur Yavaş evaluated the debates and recent developments ahead of the congress lawsuit scheduled for June 30 in an interview with journalist Ünsal Ünlü. Ünlü asked Yavaş about Kılıçdaroğlu's "nullity" stance regarding the congress.

Yavaş replied, "I did not expect this attitude." Regarding whether there would be another meeting with Kılıçdaroğlu, Yavaş said, "I mean, everything has been discussed. Everything has been conveyed. It was stated with an open heart. There will be no more meetings." Ünlü mentioned that Yavaş compared his own stance to the term 'outsider' (dışarıklı) used in Anatolia, adding that he told Yavaş, "I said that actually, you are the one who is most of an 'outsider', but you are putting up a great fight," to which he received the reply, "Well, this is what needs to be done."

"THERE ARE THOSE CURRENTLY BLOWING THIS OUT OF PROPORTION ON SCREENS FOR THEIR OWN EGOS"

Speaking about those who keep the congress debate on the agenda in the pro-government media, Yavaş said, "There are those currently blowing this out of proportion on screens for their own egos, and they are able to tell the things they say with this ego today. They are able to market it today. None of these people will be able to find a screen to appear on tomorrow." Touching upon the discussions surrounding the congress, Yavaş stated, "One should not be a tool for what is happening here. After this point, what else do we have to wait for or fight for other than our children and grandchildren? The path being taken now is a lawless one."

"THERE APPEARS TO BE NO LEGAL METHOD OTHER THAN DISMISSAL"

Explaining his expectations for June 30, Yavaş said, "As far as I am concerned, a dismissal decision will be issued. Because as of this moment, there appears to be no legal method other than dismissal, and when I add what I experienced in 2014 on top of that, I do not expect a different attitude to emerge or anything else to be observed. But of course, this could happen: If they drag it out. Let's say we didn't make a decision on June 30, but postponed the case to July 15. This would mean that they want it to be talked about for another 15 days. I don't think anything will come of this."

"THIS IS VERY ABSURD"

Yavaş made the following comment regarding a potential "absolute nullity" ruling in court:

"Look, the path that can be taken from here is very risky because you can open this up as much as you want. I mean, one day someone could come out and say, 'You gave a high raise to the minimum wage before the general elections. You gave money to workers by hand. You distributed money to retirees openly.' They could head toward such a lawsuit by defining all these actions and even promises as bribery. This is very absurd. It is extremely absurd to even create such an expectation from within any congress. That is why I do not think this is a place that can go anywhere."
