Martı TAG boss Oğuz Alper Öktem enters politics: He has become a delegate candidate for that party

The name of Oğuz Alper Öktem, founder of the transportation application Martı TAG, has appeared on the delegate list prepared ahead of the MHP's congress process. It was reported that Öktem was nominated as a Kocaeli Provincial Delegate candidate on the MHP Körfez District Organization's list.

While the MHP's 15th Ordinary Congress is expected to be held on March 7, 2027, it was observed that the name "Oğuz Alper Öktem" appeared on the Körfez District Organization's delegate list. According to a report by journalist Yiğit Uzun, Öktem is among the Kocaeli provincial delegates on the list.

Öktem has long been on the public agenda with his Martı TAG application, which he positioned as an alternative to taxi transportation in Turkey. The application has been the subject of various legal debates due to the taxi industry and related regulations; the company's operations have occasionally come to the attention of the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure and the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality.

Öktem, who also gained prominence in economic circles with Martı's listing on the New York Stock Exchange, married İrem Bilgiç, the daughter of TBMM Deputy Speaker Süreyya Sadi Bilgiç, in 2021. The couple's wedding witness was the then-Minister of Interior Süleyman Soylu, and the marriage ended in 2023.

Prior to their marriage, Öktem and İrem Bilgiç had visited President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
