As the local elections approach, a mass resignation earthquake has occurred in the Democrat Party.

Üsküdar Democrat Party District Chair Ferman Erşahin and 600 of his members resigned en masse from their party and joined the AKP Üsküdar organization.

A pin-presentation ceremony was held for the new members during an iftar dinner organized by AKP Üsküdar Mayor Hilmi Türkmen.

The pin-presentation ceremony was attended by AKP Istanbul Provincial Chair Osman Nuri Kabaktepe, Üsküdar Mayor Hilmi Türkmen, Üsküdar District Chair Erdem Demir, Democrat Party Üsküdar District Chair Ferman Erşahin, and the members who switched to the AKP.

At the end of the program, Kabaktepe and Türkmen presented the new members with their pins.

Speaking after the ceremony, Türkmen stated, "As our Chair Ferman just expressed, we are gathered here for a welcome ceremony for our friends, primarily our district chair and his team who served in the Democrat Party Üsküdar District Organization, as they join our AK Party family. On this occasion, I would like to thank our chair, his team, his fellow travelers, and the Democrat Party members in Üsküdar for this wonderful decision. I wish for this decision to be auspicious and beneficial. Chair Ferman and his team have added strength to our power by joining our AK Party family in Üsküdar. Our unity has been further solidified. We have full faith that we will walk this path together with these friends in Üsküdar, in Istanbul, and in Turkey in a more peaceful and successful manner; may it be auspicious."
