Mass resignations follow one another in IYI Party

Following the referral of former IYI Party Rize Provincial Chair Ayşegül Özyanık to the disciplinary board with a request for expulsion, an earthquake of resignations has hit the IYI Party Provincial Presidency. Özyanık announced that 200 party members, including herself, have resigned from the party.

Quoting a post from the IYI Party's social media accounts that announced Cengiz Topel Yıldırım as the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayoral Candidate, which stated, "The lack of vision and mediocrity that has reigned in our Ankara for almost 30 years," former IYI Party Rize Provincial Chair Ayşegül Özyanık expressed her discomfort with the post and criticized her party.

Upon this, the IYI Party Rize Provincial Presidency took action and referred the former Provincial Chair Özyanık to the disciplinary board, requesting her expulsion. Reacting to this situation, party members resigned from the party with a press statement made by Özyanık.

"MY HEART IS BLEEDING"

Özyanık stated that she made the post based on Chair Meral Akşener's words, 'If you are left between your conscience and me, act with your conscience,' and that as a result, she was referred to the disciplinary board with a request for permanent expulsion. Stating that 200 other people have resigned from the IYI Party along with her, Özyanık said, "This is a sad statement for me; my heart is bleeding as I say this.

There is no situation where I am keeping a tally of anyone and making them resign. When I look at the friends who called me, if we were to give a number, approximately 200 of our friends expressed that they would walk the path with us.

Apart from this, when I spoke with the headquarters, they stated that they absolutely did not have such an instruction. I even think the timing is very wrong," she said.
