Ahmet Korkmaz, who resigned from his position as the AKP Mayor of Büyükorhan in Bursa, has left the AKP and joined the New Welfare Party (YRP). Korkmaz, who has become the YRP's mayoral candidate for Büyükorhan, had his party pin attached by YRP Chairman Fatih Erbakan.
In a post shared on the YRP's official social media account, a photograph of Fatih Erbakan and Ahmet Korkmaz was included. The post stated that Korkmaz had resigned from the AKP and that his YRP pin was attached by Erbakan.
In the YRP's statement, it was noted that Korkmaz had resigned from the AKP to become the YRP's mayoral candidate for Büyükorhan, and wishes were expressed for this decision to be beneficial for both Büyükorhan and the party.
