Meral Akşener argues with CHP citizen: Did we found the party for you? "Thanks to DEM, insults to us"

İYİ Party Chair Meral Akşener visited shopkeepers on Çarşı İçi Street in Mamak. Akşener chatted with citizens and posed for photos. While listening to the citizens' problems, Akşener had an argument with a citizen named Fidan Çağlar. 

Speaking to the İYİ Party leader, Fidan Çağlar pointed to her clothes and said, "You see my clothes, I am still wearing my old ones. At least don't divide us into pieces; you got your share in the parliamentary elections, so why are you splitting up now in the mayoral elections?

You supported Mansur Yavaş and Ekrem İmamoğlu in the presidential election. Why aren't you supporting them now? We are miserable," she said.

"YOU THANK THE DEM, YOU INSULT US"

İYİ Party leader Meral Akşener responded to Çağlar by saying "we were the ones who got them elected at the time," and used the following expressions:

"We decided to enter this race on our own today and see. Which MP did we take? Don't vote for us either. Why are you miserable because of me? Am I the reason for the wear and tear on your clothes? We elected Mr. Mansur, why couldn't he fix this then? 

Why didn't you get the presidency elected? Did we found this party for you? We founded this party for this nation. Don't vote for us, brother, go support the Republican People's Party and get them elected. You thank the DEM and insult us. Come on."

Following this argument, Akşener commented, "The CHP supporters were organized today."

"WERE WE FOUNDED TO ENSURE THE EXISTENCE OF THE REPUBLICAN PEOPLE'S PARTY?"

Akşener answered journalists' questions during her shopkeeper visit. When asked by a reporter, "Do you think this argument was a provocation? Or was it spontaneous?" she replied:

"Whether you call it a citizen saying this or it happening spontaneously, it is welcome. There is no problem there. I am the one asking for votes, whether that person votes or not is a separate matter. Voters should be treated as royalty during the time you want their support. Turkey has missed this. We are a political party. We can appear before the citizens to have ourselves evaluated. If a citizen says to me, 'Hey Meral Akşener, you put yourself to the test, I am failing you,' then it is my duty to say, 'Alright, goodbye.' 

Our party is not a party founded to ensure the existence of others. We founded this party to produce projects to meet your needs and to create an environment for competition based on that. I try not to say a problematic sentence or word regarding Mr. İmamoğlu and Mr. Mansur Yavaş. 

I am a person who has had a share, whether a speck of dust or a certain amount, in their election. I strive not to say a wrong word against them. Nominating candidates against these friends does not mean 'attack the harlot.' Were we founded to ensure the existence of the Republican People's Party? There is no one who has received as much insult from both sides as the members of our party and I personally have."
