IYI Party Chair Meral Akşener addressed party members in Sivas, where she arrived for a series of meetings.
Akşener spoke to party members at the Fidan Yazıcıoğlu Cultural Center in Sivas as part of her organizational meetings.
"EVERYONE WHO OPENS THEIR MOUTH TALKS ABOUT ME"
Akşener said, "I have heard many insults regarding these elections. I have heard insults as an individual. I have encountered many ugly things. I have been subjected to many slanders. Now we are in Sivas. Sivas is also a city known for having certain sensitivities. Like many of our cities. Everyone who opens their mouth talks about me. Two words are very important. If it is not true, it is dishonorable. One is the word 'I know your private life,' and the other is 'I am privy to your secrets.' If there is no basis for these two words, 'private' and 'secret,' then anyone who says this is a dishonorable person.
Now, why did I say this? I didn't say it because I was angry, I didn't get agitated. What I am trying to say is that all these things are being said. Do you know why? Because we shook hands with the Republican People's Party (CHP). We shook hands, but we didn't succeed, my brother," she said.
"I HAVE PUT MY HEAD ON THE LINE"
Stating that they were testing themselves by taking risks, Akşener said, "Up until now, we have not criticized the Republican People's Party. We are not insulting elected mayors. We are just taking a risk and testing ourselves right now. I am also testing myself. If we succeed, it is for all of us; if we don't—and I hope we will—the price is mine. I have put my head on the line. The voter will either kick it and my head will go, or you will sit down and put my head back in its place.
I have dedicated my life to your path, my Turkey. As a result, I am ready and willing to pay that price. Do you know what this means? It means believing that being free and independent will benefit Turkey. It means believing that breaking the deadlock will provide you with benefits. And it means not entering into any dirty bargaining with any political structure. We made collaborations by saying we could eliminate this system. We didn't succeed," she said.
Following the speech, the mayoral candidates for the provinces and districts were introduced.
