A critical development has taken place within the İYİ Party. Murat İde, who has served since the party's founding, has parted ways with Chair Meral Akşener. İYİ Party Spokesperson Kürşad Zorlu announced the news of the separation while thanking İde for his contributions to the party.

GAVE SIGNALS OF DEPARTURE

Earlier in the day, Murat İde had posted a message on his social media account signaling the separation, sharing a photo of a gift distributed by Meral Akşener for the Republic Day celebrations with the caption, "Even a cup of coffee has a 40-year memory..."

HAD BEEN IN OFFICE SINCE THE PARTY WAS FOUNDED

In 2017, Murat İde was removed from his position as Editor-in-Chief at Bengütürk TV in the evening hours upon the instructions of MHP Chair Devlet Bahçeli. İde had been removed on the grounds that he did not sufficiently promote the 'Yes' vote, which was the institutional stance of the MHP, during the 2017 constitutional amendment referendum.

İde later stood by Meral Akşener during those days when the split occurred within the MHP, and after the İYİ Party was founded, he assumed the role of press advisor. Akşener had also used the term 'my comrade-in-arms' for İde in her social media posts.
