Meral Akşener reiterates 'operation' claim against CHP
Following the May elections, Ankara was the latest stop for IYI Party Chair Meral Akşener, whose party has seen a series of resignations during the local election process. Speaking at the opening of her party's Etimesgut Election Coordination Center in Ankara, the IYI Party leader reiterated her claim that an operation was being conducted against her party.

In the IYI Party, which has seen a series of resignations during the local election process to be held on March 31, Chair Meral Akşener stated that a political operation was being conducted against the IYI Party following the announcement of Hilmi Özer's candidacy in Etimesgut, saying, "Whose toes did we step on, whose pockets did we stand in the way of, or whose future gains did we block? What did we do that such a disrespectful act, an operation that would never happen to a political party, was carried out against our party? We have noted these down," she said.
Pointing out that a climate of conflict has been created when there should be competition based on services and projects in the elections, Meral Akşener emphasized that political operations were being carried out against the IYI Party.
"NOW WE HAVE NOTED THESE DOWN"
"We have infinite respect for the candidates of all political parties who have set out for Etimesgut, and I wish them success, but as soon as we nominated our friend, such an operation was carried out against our party, and all kinds of ugliness were committed in our most private sphere," Akşener said, adding the following:
"Has anyone in this city, in this district, been harmed by Hilmi the Chair? No. Does nominating Hilmi the Chair make us an enemy force? No. There may be those among a party's members who want to resign, I have infinite respect for that. They may not like it, they may not like it at the last minute, I am fine with that too. They say 'Fine' and leave.
Look, I have been actively involved in politics for 30 years. I started my political career in the DYP. During the ANAP-DYP conflict, I never saw such disrespect, such an ugly operation carried out against a political party. Later, I served in the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP). We left the Nationalist Movement Party for various reasons and founded the IYI Party. Since that day, we have not said a single disrespectful word to the members or the chair of the Nationalist Movement Party. Now, we have also walked a path with the Republican People's Party (CHP). We did not succeed at the end of that path. In our view, we did not succeed; we could not change the freak system.
Therefore, in this election, as the IYI Party, we set out in the local elections as free and independent to fulfill the duty our nation has given us; that is, we put ourselves to the test. If you approve of us, we will continue on our path; if you do not, we will return to our homes.
Therefore, what I am trying to explain is this; my friend, what kind of Etimesgut is this? I mean, what is in this Etimesgut, what is going on; let me ask that. Whose toes did we step on, whose pockets did we stand in the way of, or whose future gains did we block? What did we do that such a disrespectful act, an operation that would never happen to a political party, was carried out against our party? Now we have noted these down."
