Making a statement on the first anniversary of the Sinan Ateş murder, İYİ Party leader Meral Akşener said, "We will never give up searching for the truth that took Sinan Ateş from us."

İYİ Party Chairwoman Meral Akşener, on the first anniversary of the murder of former Ülkü Ocakları (Idealist Hearths) President Sinan Ateş , made a statement on her social media account.

Akşener said, “The jackal's freedom lasts until the lion stands up. We will never accept a silence that emboldens mafias, middlemen, and drug traffickers... We will never give up searching for the truth that took Sinan Ateş from us.”

“WHEN THE FIELD IS LEFT EMPTY, THE JACKALS RULE”

Quoting the statement made by the official X account of the İYİ Party, Akşener's message is as follows:

“Today, at this hour, one year ago, we lost Sinan Ateş as a result of a despicable assassination in the heart of the capital, Ankara. That is, it has been exactly 1 year... May his soul rest in peace, may his place be heaven. May God grant patience to my sister Ayşe, to Bengisu, to Banuçiçek, and to all his loved ones...

While we possess an ancient state tradition that teaches that delayed justice is oppression, we have been calling for the punishment of the real perpetrators who organized this horrific assassination for exactly 1 year. However, the expert report that emerged yesterday unfortunately showed once again that the corruption the government has caused in our country has enveloped every institution of the state. The management vacuum has opened space for all kinds of lawlessness. In other words, when the field is left empty, the jackals rule.”

But let no one forget this: the jackal's freedom lasts until the lion stands up. We will never accept a silence that emboldens mafias, middlemen, and drug traffickers. We will never surrender the Republic of Turkey to a mentality where conscience has withered and justice is delayed. Just as the truth has a beautiful habit of coming to light one day, we will never give up searching for the truth that took Sinan Ateş from us...”
