Message from Ahmet Özer to MHP's Feti Yıldız: 'Now is the time to embrace'

MHP Deputy Chairman and Istanbul MP Feti Yıldız drew attention in a social media post to the work of detained CHP Esenyurt Mayor Prof. Dr. Ahmet Özer, which he had presented during a parliamentary commission meeting.
Recalling Özer's words that "900 years of the 1,000-year togetherness of Turks and Kurds belong to the period of the Ottoman Turkish State," Yıldız remarked, "He spoke the truth."

Issuing a statement from Silivri Prison where he is being held, Ahmet Özer responded to Feti Yıldız's remarks with the following words:
"Feti Yıldız's emphasis on the historical togetherness and brotherhood of Turks and Kurds, referencing my work, is extremely valuable during this difficult process we are going through. A thousand years of shared experience, shared sorrows, and joys should remind us of our unity today. These emphases should pave the way for peace and embracing, not division."
"NOW IS THE TIME TO EMBRACE" MESSAGE
In the continuation of his statement, Ahmet Özer pointed out that Turkey is going through a period where it needs unity and solidarity more than ever, and made the following call:
"We may have political differences, but we all know the culture of living together on these lands. Now we must remember the togetherness of the past, embrace, and build the future together. With its Turks, Kurds, Laz, and Circassians, this country belongs to all of us."
