Message from detained Şişli Mayor Resul Emrah Şahan: 'We are entrusted to you'

Şişli Mayor Resul Emrah Şahan, who was detained as part of investigations into the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, shared a message on social media stating that he and Ekrem İmamoğlu are doing well, adding, "The nation will be the winner." His lawyer announced that they have filed an objection to the extension of his detention period.

Şişli Mayor Resul Emrah Şahan shared a message on his social media account on the third day of his detention. 

In his post, Şahan stated the following: 

"My dear citizens of Şişli. I hear the voices of solidarity. I am sure that bright days are very close. Mayor Ekrem said the dawn has broken; that is exactly why these things are happening, but you should be at ease. The nation will be the winner. You will be the winners. I am doing very well. My Mayor Ekrem, myself, and Mayor Çalık are entrusted to you. With my love."

STATEMENT FROM HIS LAWYER 

Hüseyin Ersöz, the lawyer for Şişli Mayor Resul Emrah Şahan, stated that they have filed an objection with the Istanbul Duty Criminal Court of Peace against the decision to extend the detention period. Ersöz announced that the interrogation of Şişli Mayor Resul Emrah Şahan and IMM Deputy Secretary General Mahir Polat is expected to begin as of today.
