Message from Devlet Bahçeli following heart surgery: Shared on his social media account

Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) Chairman Devlet Bahçeli had been receiving treatment in the hospital due to a health issue he experienced recently. Bahçeli, who had previously experienced similar problems, underwent a successful surgery to replace his heart valve.

It was reported that his health condition is good, and Bahçeli had to cancel his party's group meeting on February 4 during this process.

Making a statement on his social media account following his treatment process, Bahçeli delivered important messages on the second anniversary of the February 6 earthquakes.

PUBLISHED A FEBRUARY 6 MESSAGE AS SOON AS HE WOKE UP

Stating that the traces of the disaster that deeply shook life across the country are “being erased step by step,” Bahçeli emphasized unity, solidarity, and rapid reconstruction against earthquakes and potential disasters.

Bahçeli included the following statements in his post:

Exactly two years ago, Turkey and the Turkish nation were subjected to a great destruction described and defined as the disaster of the century.

The consecutive earthquakes, with their epicenters in the Pazarcık and Elbistan districts of Kahramanmaraş, struck our country at its heart.

11 of our provinces, 124 of our districts, and 6 thousand 929 of our villages and neighborhoods were shaken by the heavy destruction of the earthquake.

While 54 thousand of our brothers and sisters, whose pain we still carry in our hearts, lost their lives, 107 thousand of our brothers and sisters were injured.

Dreams remained under the soil.

Many hopes, many longings, and many joys and goals of life were interrupted and lost.

However, with the superhuman search and rescue efforts that accompanied the question "Is anyone there?", the thick cover of cold, darkness, and heavy rubble was opened day by day and even torn apart.

Even though the light of life was covered by stone, concrete, and rubble, our Turkey became one heart and mobilized to heal the wounds of the disaster.

Despite the ruthless and unscrupulous crowd that entered the position of exploitation, denial, and slander, waiting for our country to get into trouble and for our state and government to wear out and weaken, the traces of February 6 were erased step by step with a dedicated and extraordinary struggle.

Indeed, the scope and force of the February 6 earthquakes were very severe. But the power of solidarity and mutual assistance of the Turkish nation was much more alive, vigorous, and stronger than that.

Our noble nation joined hands with its state.

For those who are not ashamed of being companions with lies in order to profit from the rubble and gain from the disaster, and who have no agenda other than distorting the truth and instilling pessimism, their propaganda sources dried up and their gossip taps were cut off in the face of the uprising of the national spirit.

Since February 6, 2023, our provinces affected by the earthquake have, thank God, been rebuilt again and at jet speed.

With an enviable effort, the vast majority of our earthquake-affected citizens have reached their new homes.

In two years, 201 thousand 580 residences, village houses, and workplaces were completed and delivered to their rightful owners.

By the end of this year, with the completion and delivery of 452 thousand 983 independent structures, the target of a total of 654 thousand 563 residences will hopefully be reached.

Producing work instead of producing talk is the nature of noble and ethical politics.

It is our primary conscientious and humanitarian duty to specifically state that we consider those who still avoid seeing all these services, those who ignore the works done, those who see the efforts given as wasted, and those who underestimate the sweat shed and the prices paid as unserious, insincere, irresponsible, and ill-intentioned.

Even if we cannot bring back the people we lost in the earthquake, it is certainly a matter of dignity to protect the legacy they left behind and to make the earthquake region much safer, more durable, and equipped with beauties than it was before.

It is an urgent need to accelerate urban transformation by taking into account the large earthquake possibilities and warnings that have recurred with the earthquake storm experienced in the Aegean Sea, and to ensure that local governments take more initiative in this regard.

Earthquake is a part of life that we cannot neglect. Making life and future projects compatible with this is a necessity at the level of survival.

It is a debt of patriotism, political honor, and destiny for the municipalities under the political management of opposition parties to focus on their primary duties, strengthen the infrastructure of their cities, be prepared for possible new earthquakes, and take immediate measures regarding the 600 thousand buildings in Istanbul that are at risk of collapse at any moment.

Our Turkey is in an earthquake zone. There will be earthquakes from now on as well. This is an inevitable geographical fact. It is out of the question to face or find a solution to any problem by running away from the facts or closing our eyes to the facts.

I sincerely and respectfully congratulate our President, our Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, all our relevant ministers, our bureaucrats, some of our non-governmental organizations that are symbols of national sensitivity, all our state officials, and the great Turkish nation, who have displayed a magnificent example of struggle day and night over the last two years.

I pray for God's mercy upon all our brothers and sisters who passed away in the February 6 earthquakes, and I say may their place be heaven.

My prayer to the Lord is that He spares and protects our country and our nation from disasters, calamities, accidents, and troubles that cannot be overcome.
