New Welfare Party Chairman Fatih Erbakan made important statements regarding the future of his party and potential relations with the People's Alliance.

Speaking on a program he attended on TV100, Erbakan said in his assessment regarding the People's Alliance, "We have no intention of coming together with the People's Alliance again; this is out of the question." He also gave a clear answer to a question about President Erdoğan: "We are acting on the principle that what has been tried once should not be tried again."

VOTERS ARE AGAINST A MERGER

Erbakan emphasized that his party and the public have expressed a strong will on this issue and that his staff shares the same view. "Our organizations and our voters are against such a merger," said Erbakan, noting that they ended their relations with the People's Alliance because the agreement made in the May 14 elections was not implemented.

ALLIANCE CONSIDERED FOR PARLIAMENTARY ELECTIONS

The Chairman also stated that in future general elections, a parliamentary alliance could be formed with parties outside the People's Alliance that appeal to the conservative base. However, stating that they will definitely field their own candidate in the presidential election, Erbakan declared, "The New Welfare Party's presidential candidate will definitely be the party's Chairman."

Erbakan stated that after the past decision to withdraw in favor of the President, participating in elections in favor of another candidate would not be politically appropriate for the party. In this direction, he expressed that the New Welfare Party's decision to determine its own presidential candidate is a natural process.
