Message from İmamoğlu regarding the TRNC

Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu congratulated Tufan Erhürman, Chairman of the Republican Turkish Party (CTP), who won following the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) presidential elections. Making a statement via his social media account after the election results were finalized, İmamoğlu stated that the Turkish Cypriot people had once again demonstrated their belief in democracy.

"THE TURKISH CYPRIOT PEOPLE HAVE SHOWN THEIR BELIEF IN DEMOCRACY"

In his post, İmamoğlu used the following expressions: "Today, the Turkish Cypriot people have once again shown their belief in democracy through their free will. I congratulate Mr. Tufan Erhürman, who won the presidential elections, and wish him success in his duties."

İmamoğlu stated his belief that Erhürman would provide valuable contributions to the Cyprus issue with his knowledge, consensus-based approach, and sense of responsibility toward his people. He also added, "I hope that the Southern Cyprus Administration will also act fairly and constructively during this process."

In the continuation of his statement, İmamoğlu emphasized that the Cyprus issue is not just a matter of territory or status, but also a struggle for honor, equality, and existence. "As always, we stand with the Turkish Cypriot people's legitimate rights, sovereignty, and will to live in peace," he said.
