While the 'absolute nullity' decision regarding the cancellation of the CHP convention has left its mark on the agenda, the party's metropolitan mayors held a series of meetings in Ankara. The mayors, who came together at the CHP Headquarters yesterday, also met at the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality in the morning hours.
Following the meeting, which lasted approximately three hours, the delegation returned to the headquarters and held a meeting with CHP Chairman Özgür Özel.
After the meeting, a joint statement was issued to the public by the CHP mayors. The text emphasized that the CHP has overcome difficult processes in the past and included the following statements:
"Our party, which founded the Republic, has successfully emerged from difficult processes experienced throughout our country's democratic history. Our party will emerge from the process we are in today stronger, in unity and solidarity. We are aware that the main purpose of the 'absolute nullity' decision is to divide and fragment our Republican People's Party and to weaken our nation's hope for a change in government. As Metropolitan Mayors of the Republican People's Party, we stand by our party's elected Chairman, Mr. Özgür Özel, and our party management. At this stage, for the sake of our party's well-being and future, we announce to the public our view that our extraordinary convention should be convened within 45 days at the latest."
