MHP launches 'opening' tour: 'If Turkey loses territory, what use is power to me!'

The "Towards the Crescent, Turkey, One and Together" meetings organized by the MHP were held yesterday in the cities of Elazığ, Malatya, Bingöl, İzmir, Manisa, Aydın, Samsun, Sinop, and Ordu.

Speaking at the meetings, MHP figures are explaining to the base the initiatives that began with Bahçeli shaking hands with DEM Party deputies at the opening of the new legislative year in Parliament and his subsequent remarks regarding Öcalan.

'IF TURKEY LOSES TERRITORY, WHAT USE IS POWER TO ME?'

Taking the floor at the meeting in Elazığ, MHP Deputy Chairman Yaşar Yıldırım used the following words:

"Devlet Bahçeli is not calculating whether 'I will gain or lose votes if I make this move.' He is operating under the mindset of, 'If I make this move, I will not give up territory; the integrity of the state and the homeland will be preserved. If there is hardship to be endured, I will endure it. But if I do not make this move, Turkey will lose territory. In that case, what use is power to me?' And now, of course, there is a slogan that gives voice to this mindset. Devlet Bahçeli is not deceiving anyone, is he? He is telling all of you, he is telling all of us. He says, 'My political understanding is: first my country and my nation, then my party and myself.'"

'OUR LEADER'S WORDS ARE THE MANIFESTATION OF PROFOUND KNOWLEDGE'

MHP Deputy Chairman İlyas Topsakal spoke as follows in Samsun:

"When the time comes, everyone will understand Devlet Bahçeli. It is obvious that the world is drifting into more chaos every day, and this situation continues to rapidly surround us. Weapons are now stockpiled in every region and positioned in a way that could turn into a major conflict at any moment. It is not possible for me to explain these theories here in a short time, but the Turkish state and nation must be secure. For this reason, alongside different positioning in foreign policy and the strategy of maintaining armed forces, internal security must also be ensured. Therefore, being a nation, being united, and sharing the same feelings and sentiments is an increasingly important matter. That is why the idea of internal unity stands before us as the most important strategic stance, just as Atatürk said. We define a nation this way anyway. For this reason, our elders considered the Kurds to be within the National Pact (Misak-ı Milli) when the Republic was founded and determined our borders accordingly. Listen well to our leader's words. His saying that the Pact is a right; his references to the Pact in every speech are not coincidental, they are the manifestation of profound knowledge itself."

'WE ARE MAKING OUR MOVE TO END TERROR'

MHP Central Executive Committee (MYK) member Mustafa Çavuş also recorded the following words regarding the process initiated by Bahçeli:

"Thank God we have such a self-sacrificing leader. My valuable fellow party members, the steps taken by our leader for a Turkey without terror on October 22 and the historic call he made have practically unsettled some merchant parties. As you can see, those who feed on terror and those who build their politics on terror and coups have jumped out of their seats. Some, out of fear that 'alas, the MHP will end terror and we will disappear,' are trying to raise their hands here and there, promising to hand over the management of Turkey; some said 'we welcomed it' and then backtracked on instructions received from the mountains or the plains; and those who say 'we don't want it,' and some insolent ones take it upon themselves to lecture us by dragging the precious families of our martyrs into their rhetoric. They are trying to involve our martyrs in their politics. Gentlemen, do not forget that we are the owners of those houses without plaster. We are the fathers, the hunters, the brothers. When our soldier sons are sent off, they are not sent off with 'Bella Ciao' songs that they listen to and sing, but by singing the folk songs written and sung by Nationalists, 'I have pledged my life to Turkey's path.' My valuable fellow party members, do not listen to those who criticize us and our moves for a Turkey without terror because we have disrupted their interests and orders, do not take them into account, and do not let your morale be broken. A wolf behind which no jackal howls is not a wolf."
