MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli spoke about the May 1st events in Saraçhane at his party's parliamentary group meeting.

Bahçeli spoke as follows regarding the May 1st events:

Why this insistence on Taksim, what is the purpose here, and what does Taksim have to do with labor and solidarity? Is a repeat of the tragic and grave incidents during the Gezi Park protests being planned?

A few bandits who have nothing to do with honest labor terrorized the May 1st Labor and Solidarity Day.

"NOT WORTH A DIME..."

It is hard to even find a person worth 400 dirhams, or 400 grams. Hüseyin Nihal Atsız was a 400-dirham, meaning a substantial, man. This sacred homeland and this blessed nation will not be abandoned to these human dregs who are not worth a dime, let alone 400 dirhams or 400 grams.

I salute our brothers and sisters who carry the burden of life with their labor. I am proud of the Turkish police who were subjected to physical violence with stones, sticks, and slingshots but did not fall into the trap, and I thank them all.

Our police are the true laborers; those who cannot see this are wretched and traitors.

We know and recognize these fair-weather opportunists and are watching them with concern. Sometimes we see those who pat us on the back inappropriately. We are aware that while they pat us, they are looking for a place to plunge a knife.

"WE WILL LOOK AHEAD"

Highlights from Bahçeli's speech:

No matter the circumstances, we will not hesitate to shout the truth. Even if we walk on water, there will be those who say we didn't know how to swim. We will look to our work and look ahead. We will not compromise on our struggle. We stand with the oppressed against tyranny.

"THE SCHEME OF SEDITION HAS BEEN FOILED"

The seditious calculations of those who keep harping on Turkey's trade with Israel have been foiled. Our Foreign Minister's call to Islamic countries to "stop Israel" is proof of this. The day of reckoning is near for Netanyahu. Israel's Gaza massacre has been protested in many countries, including the US, Canada, and across Europe. These barbaric attacks have been condemned. Countries that respond to these protests with detentions and violence act as human rights experts when it suits them. It is a hypocrisy to be ashamed of. Humanity has united and sharpened its resolve against oppression. The UN must intervene urgently. It is a matter of human honor for the UN to pay the price. The region is on a knife's edge. Sometimes those we think are high up are lower than we can stoop.

"WE MUST EMBRACE"

Instead of polarization, we must embrace. Hz. Mevlana says; “I heard you came to my door, and because there was no knocker, you turned back without knocking. Don't you know, the door of the heart does not need a knocker; it only opens from the inside.” Every segment of society should support our country's rise. Politics is not an arena for fighting. It is more logical to drink sugar water than to be 'demlenmek' (a play on words referring to the opposition alliance).

ERDOĞAN-ÖZEL MEETING

We do not pay attention to the words of those who make empty noise from empty seats.

STATEMENT ON OSMAN KAVALA

When CHP Chairman Özgür Özel asked 'what time is it' at the Council of Europe, he received the answer, 'you should release Osman Kavala first.' Does Mr. Özel not have a watch on his wrist, or do his companions not have one either? Instead of asking for the time, shouldn't he be questioning the support given to the PKK? If Mr. Özel is curious about the time, he can ask me; I will open my pocket watch and share it with him openly. Özel should not listen to black propaganda. Should we cheapen our honor just because Europe wants us to?

SİNAN ATEŞ INDICTMENT

Whoever has documents and information should apply to the court. The court cannot be put on trial on TV screens. They said the indictment was prepared and it was empty. The Sinan Ateş case must begin immediately. Let's see if the process ends in Ankara or Pennsylvania?
