Selim Dölcü, the MHP Group Chairman in the Çorum Provincial General Assembly, has announced his resignation from his position after referring to PKK terrorist organization leader Abdullah Öcalan as 'Mr.' during a meeting.

In a statement, Dölcü said, "A smear campaign is being conducted against my party and myself due to an involuntary slip of the tongue during a part of my speech at the Provincial General Assembly."

In his statement, Selim Dölcü added, "Anyone who listens to my speech in its entirety will understand what I meant to say. We say the same thing today as we said yesterday: Abdullah Öcalan is the head of the terrorists and a baby killer. I apologize to the entire Nationalist-Idealist community and the Great Turkish Nation for coming to the agenda with such a topic and for occupying my organization with such an issue."

WHAT HAPPENED?

During his speech at the Çorum Provincial General Assembly, CHP Group Chairman Sadettin Akgül criticized the dismissal of lieutenants who declared "We are soldiers of Atatürk" from the army, while also expressing his reaction to the idea of bringing Abdullah Öcalan to Parliament. Following this, MHP Çorum Provincial General Assembly Group Chairman Selim Dölcü took the floor to respond to Sadettin Akgül and referred to PKK terrorist organization leader Abdullah Öcalan as 'Mr. Öcalan'.
