MHP Muğla Provincial Chair Oğuz Akarfırat announced that he has resigned from his post due to health reasons. In a written press statement, Akarfırat stated that he is taking a break from his political life and that he has conveyed this decision to MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli. In his statement, Akarfırat said, "With the pride and honor of being a companion to my leader, my Chairman, Mr. Dr. Devlet Bahçeli, who has no thought other than the survival of the Republic of Turkey and who says 'First my country and my nation, then my party and me,' I have conveyed to my esteemed Organization Chair and the leader of our cause, our Chairman, that I am requesting to be relieved of my current duty as Muğla Provincial Chair, that I am forced to take a break from my political life due to health reasons, and that I am requesting leave for a while."

According to the report by ANKA, stating "Our loyalty to the leader and our political struggle will never end," Akarfırat continued his statement as follows:

"With this new decision taken at the disposal of our organization, saying 'Every end is a new beginning'; I ask for the forgiveness of my provincial board members, district chairs, KAÇEP provincial chair, provincial youth branch chair, and all my comrades and fellow travelers with whom I walked in unity and solidarity during the time I served for my party, which has been the representative of the political and social center for 55 years, basing itself on all national and spiritual values. If we have any rights, they are forgiven a thousand times over. We consider it a duty to apologize to all friends whom we may have hurt or upset, even if unintentionally, along this path."
