MHP official who said he would 'get away with' sexual assault: This time he didn't!

In the first hearing of the "sexual assault" scandal case that emerged at the MHP Dilovası District Presidency in Kocaeli, MHP official Ali Demiray was sentenced to prison.
"I CAN GET AWAY WITH ANYTHING"
According to the report by İsmail Arı from BirGün, a woman named K.A., who worked at the MHP District Presidency, filed a complaint on March 30, stating that MHP District Chair Ali Demiray had "sexually assaulted" her.
In her statement, K.A. explained that the MHP official Demiray had continued his physical sexual assaults at different times. In a statement to BirGün, she had said, "Demiray says, 'Nothing will happen to me. I can get away with anything.'"
DEFENSE REJECTED
Subsequently, the Gebze Chief Public Prosecutor's Office prepared an indictment on May 22, stating that MHP official Ali Demiray had committed the crimes of "sexual harassment and simple sexual assault." A case was opened against Demiray at the Gebze 9th Criminal Court of First Instance.
The indictment stated that the woman, K.A., reported that she was subjected to verbal and sexual assault by the MHP official Demiray both at the party building and at her home while she was working as a tea server at the MHP Dilovası District Presidency.
Furthermore, the indictment noted that the audio recording submitted by K.A. as evidence confirmed her account. Conversely, it was stated that MHP official Demiray's defense that he was being "slandered" was "aimed at escaping punishment" as there was no hostility between him and K.A., and therefore his defense was not deemed credible.
In the first hearing of the case held on October 10, MHP official Demiray was sentenced to 4 years and 8 months in prison for committing the "crimes of sexual harassment and sexual assault." However, with a good conduct reduction, Demiray's sentence was reduced to 3 years and 10 months. Demiray is expected to enter prison once the sentence is finalized.
HE HAD SAID 'I AM AT BAHÇELİ'S COMMAND'
Following K.A.'s complaint, Demiray had resigned, stating, "I have resigned from my position as the Nationalist Movement Party Dilovası District Chair due to health reasons. I am always at the command of my organizations and our leader, Mr. Dr. Devlet Bahçeli."
