MHP recalls Öcalan call following developments in Syria: 'Do not overlook the historic warning'

The takeover of the capital Damascus by jihadist groups led by the terrorist organization HTS in Syria has prompted a notable statement from the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP). 

MHP Deputy Chairman in charge of Legal and Election Affairs Feti Yıldız brought the October 22, 2024, call by Chairman Devlet Bahçeli back to the agenda in a post on the social media platform X.

BAHÇELİ'S ÖCALAN CALL REITERATED

In his post, Yıldız included the following remarks:

“As for those who cannot fully grasp what is happening in the Middle East regarding the historic call made by Nationalist Movement Party Leader Mr. Devlet Bahçeli on October 22, 2024, it is their own business whether they stay away from the screens for a while or continue to appear with great audacity.”

Emphasizing the MHP's stance on the fight against terrorism, Yıldız concluded his statement with these words:

“The Nationalist Movement Party will continue to work with all its might to protect the indivisible integrity of the state with its country and nation, to remove the obstacles before the material and spiritual development of the Turkish nation, and to ensure social peace and tranquility prevail.”

In his speech at his party's group meeting on October 22, 2024, MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli had stated regarding PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan: 'Let him speak at the DEM Party group meeting in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey. Let him announce that the PKK has been dissolved. Following this, let him benefit from the right to hope.'
