Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç addressed party members at the AK Party 7th Ordinary District Congress held in Pendik. Stating that the AK Party has been waging a great struggle for 22 years to eliminate the mentality of tutelage in Turkey, Tunç said, "We have strengthened our democracy with reforms that meet the needs of our nation."

"THE AK PARTY IS A NATION'S MOVEMENT"

Touching upon the party's founding process during the congress, Minister Tunç stated that the AK Party is not just a political entity, but a movement of cause. Tunç used the expressions, "The AK Party is a movement born from the demands of our nation under the leadership of our President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. This party is not a political formation created by a few people at a desk, but a cause that our nation supports with deep faith."

Minister Tunç claimed that in the political and economic environment full of crises in the 1990s, there were successes achieved by Recep Tayyip Erdoğan during his term as Mayor of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality. Tunç said, "A transformation was achieved from an Istanbul struggling with garbage, mud, and water shortages to a livable city full of works. Our nation founded the AK Party under Erdoğan's leadership and carried this success across Turkey."

'WE ENDED TUTELAGE'

In his speech, Tunç also touched upon the reforms of the AK Party government and said, "We have eliminated tutelage with the radical reforms we have carried out in our Constitution. We will continue to work for a high-standard democracy."
