Minister Şimşek on tourism: 'Best performance of all time'

Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek evaluated the tourism statistics released today.

According to the data announced by TUIK, tourism revenue in the 4th quarter, consisting of October, November, and December, increased by 6.8% compared to the same quarter of the previous year, reaching 12 billion 272 million 673 thousand dollars.

HE SHARED THE 2028 TARGET

Minister Şimşek said the following:

"We achieved the best performance of all time in tourism in 2023.

The number of people visiting our country reached 57.1 million with an annual increase of 11.1 percent, exceeding the year-end target (56.7 million). Tourism revenue amounted to 54.3 billion dollars.

According to the Medium-Term Program, we expect the strong trend in tourism to continue this year, with the number of visitors rising to 59.4 million and tourism revenue to 59.6 billion dollars.

Our target for 2028 is to reach 82.3 million visitors and 100 billion dollars in tourism revenue."
