Muğla Mayor Osman Gürün announces he will not be a candidate

Muğla Metropolitan Mayor Osman Gürün has announced that he will not be a candidate in the upcoming local elections.

Muğla Metropolitan Mayor Osman Gürün announced in a statement on the social media platform X that he will not be filing a candidacy application for the upcoming local elections.

"I HAVE DECIDED NOT TO BE A CANDIDATE IN THE UPCOMING ELECTIONS"

Gürün's statement is as follows:

"My very dear fellow citizens, I have decided not to be a candidate in the upcoming elections in order to conclude my term of office, which began with the Muğla Mayoralty in 1999 and continued with the Metropolitan Mayoralty in 2014—spanning 3 terms as provincial mayor and 2 terms as metropolitan mayor—with the 2024 local elections.

I would like to thank all my fellow citizens who gave me this opportunity and duty, regardless of which party they support; our Republican People's Party, the party of foundation and liberation, which allowed me to experience these five honorable terms; my wife and children, whose support I have always felt by my side; and my colleagues and coworkers.

I wish for the 2024 local elections to be beneficial to our country and our Muğla in advance, and I offer my respect and gratitude with the hope of living together in a bright and prosperous Turkey and a happy Muğla in the second century of the republic."
