Murat Emir explains why the IMM indictment could not be written

CHP Group Deputy Chairman Murat Emir reacted sharply to the indictment prepared against lawyer Muhammed Mesut Yıldız on the grounds of the "Soğuk Savaş" (Cold War) program. Emir stated, "While claiming they would prosecute a post reacting to the CHP provincial building, they went and pasted a section from the 'Soğuk Savaş' indictment. Lawyer Muhammed Mesut Yıldız was detained due to a post he made following the appointment of a trustee to the CHP Provincial Headquarters building. However, the indictment that reached Yıldız unexpectedly included accusations related to a program called Soğuk Savaş.

Lawyer Yıldız used the following expressions in a statement on his social media account:

“I was detained due to a tweet I posted in front of the CHP Provincial Building on September 8. Today, the indictment reached me; they are prosecuting 20 people together with me. The justification is that we allegedly participated in the video content of the Soğuk Savaş program, which was arrested on September 22, and showed hostility toward religious values. What does my tweet (invitation to the CHP Provincial Building) have to do with hostility toward religion? I have never watched the Soğuk Savaş program in my life, and I haven't even made any posts about it. By the way, I am sure those kids are also innocent. As a lawyer, witnessing the end of the rule of law saddens me more than anything else. I leave this terrible indictment and the case filed to the conscience of our people.”


While the detention and indictment process were met with public reaction, CHP Group Deputy Chairman Murat Emir did not remain silent on the matter. Quoting the news, Emir shared the following statements on his X account:
