There are only a few days left until the local elections. The AKP, which wants to reclaim Istanbul after losing it in 2019, has fielded Murat Kurum against incumbent Metropolitan Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu.

Murat Kurum, who has frequently made headlines for gaffes at rallies and whose election campaign has been deemed insufficient even by some within the AKP, has seen support from ministers in addition to AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan attended an event organized by the Turkey Youth NGOs Platform alongside Murat Kurum. Speaking at the event, Fidan asked for votes for Kurum.

Touching upon a potential Istanbul earthquake, Fidan stated, "If we want to prepare for an Istanbul earthquake and show that we have learned lessons from disasters, Murat Kurum must become the Metropolitan Mayor."
