The Istanbul 45th Civil Court of First Instance decided to remove CHP Istanbul Provincial Chair Özgür Çelik and 196 delegates from their duties. In line with this decision, Gürsel Tekin was appointed as a trustee to the Istanbul Provincial Presidency. The decision has caused widespread repercussions within the CHP.

Cumhuriyet newspaper columnist Mustafa Balbay stated in his remarks that this development is a continuation of the operation on March 19. Balbay said, "This decision is a move directed at the CHP headquarters. Suspending 196 delegates means disregarding the 38th Ordinary Congress. This is a harbinger of what will happen on September 15."

Expressing his reaction with the phrase "The CHP will reject the trustee," Balbay suggested that factions within the party could experience conflict due to the trustee appointments.

He also stated that he believes the ruling power has placed trolls within the CHP and warned that a political ban could be imposed on Özgür Çelik.

Criticizing Gürsel Tekin for accepting the trustee role, Balbay expressed that Tekin has wiped out his political capital with this decision. Balbay said that Tekin had made his leanings clear during the local election process and that this situation could affect the balances within the party.
