CHP held its first Central Executive Board (MYK) meeting following the 38th Ordinary Congress.
Following the meeting, which was chaired by Chairman Özgür Özel, the party's new spokesperson Deniz Yücel made a statement.
Highlights from Yücel's statement are as follows:
"Turkey has been in a serious economic crisis for a long time, and now a judicial crisis has been added to it. Where there is no justice, no one, including those in power, is safe.
We have been on a justice watch for 5 days against the attempted coup against the Constitution and the will of the Turkish Grand National Assembly. We will not remain indifferent to any of the country's problems."
The President entering a mindset of acting as an arbiter is reminiscent of a cabinet state.
The Court of Cassation's decision on Can Atalay is null and void. It is not anyone's place to disregard the Constitutional Court's ruling or to target Constitutional Court judges.
We will not enter into a constitutional drafting process with an approach that disregards the provisions of the Constitution."
