MYP leader gives harsh response to Erdoğan's 'telef' remarks! 'This statement will remain a disgrace'

National Way Party (MYP) Chairman Remzi Çayır made evaluations regarding the current agenda at a press conference held at his party's headquarters. Çayır reacted to the words of AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, who said at his party's group meeting, "The ancients used to say, 'It was a handful of grass that sent the goat off the cliff.' Let's see, how many more CHP members will perish in the political whirlpool on the path to presidential ambition?"

HE DREW ATTENTION TO THE BANNED SLOGAN!

In his statement, Çayır noted the following:

"We must express with sadness that Turkey cannot seem to use or experience holidays as holidays, or mourning as mourning. In other words, we cannot steer Turkey inward with bans, fears, and chaos scenarios. Those who govern the country are obligated to ensure that people live in happiness, peace, prosperity, and freedom. This is the requirement of the state and the administrators, that is, of being in power. A country cannot be governed with bans and fears. May 1st has become universalized as Labor Day and is celebrated as Labor Day around the world. The world is now a small village. What happens concerns us all. While holidays are celebrated in other lands and geographies, they are celebrated here too. Workers must express themselves within the legal framework, provided they remain within the constitutional framework without breaking or destroying anything, and they must make themselves heard in some way. There is no explanation for the government's succumbing to fear, growing anxiety, banning the slogan 'a country cannot be governed with radishes and turnips,' or trying to keep those carrying these slogans out in one way or another, or trying to collect such placards.

We must now move the country somewhere with Turkey's real agenda. You must abandon these efforts that do not reflect the truth and are only aimed at creating perception and making yourselves happy by counting fear and anxiety, saying 'enemies from inside and outside, enemies from inside and outside, here are those inside, there are those outside trying to destroy us. They are destroying the world leader. The world leader is this and that.' Turkey's agenda is the very expression that 'a country cannot be governed with radishes and turnips, it is governed with justice, it is governed with mercy, it is governed with common sense,' and that is the reality of Turkey."

"LET THE JUDICIARY DO ITS JOB"

You open the pro-government television channels, visual or print media, and you see jobs and headlines that have nothing to do with what we are experiencing. Is Turkey's agenda what is happening inside the CHP? Is it the CHP congress? I mean, you have taken the man inside. You have treated him in a way that is not pleasant at all and does not sit well with conscience, with a midnight operation. You took him away like you were arresting a terrorist in the middle of the night. To the umpteenth floor of the police headquarters. Then you started talking about how guilty he is, how much corruption he committed, what a bad person he is. Who is spreading these stories or these types of news? The pro-government side. On the other side, there are opposition channels explaining how innocent he is. Where is the court, where is the prosecutor, where is the judiciary, my brother? Look, Turkey is currently in a huge chaos in terms of the judiciary. The written and visual press is currently doing the judiciary's homework and the judiciary's function. There is no judiciary. We hear from journalists before the prosecutor or the judge's statement about what is in the file, what is not, or the evidence that will enter the file, or the state or course of the investigation. In a society where there is no justice, there is no happiness, no peace, no future. We cannot live together, we cannot live as a nation. Justice is the main pillar of our lives, our existence, the main pillar. If the main pillar collapses, everyone collapses. Let the judiciary do its job.

"THIS STATEMENT WILL REMAIN A DISGRACE IN OUR POLITICAL HISTORY"

If the President stands up and passes judgment on the investigation into the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, for which an indictment has not even been prepared, and says 'these are guilty,' and even uses language that is not pleasant at all, not becoming of a President, not becoming of a person who governs the country, saying 'oh, these people want to be President. Let's see how many people will perish on the path to the Presidency. One has already perished. Now it's the turn of others,' what kind of mind, what kind of belief, what kind of language, what kind of perception requires saying this? What does 'telef' mean? Go look at the root of the word. It comes from 'itlaf,' meaning killing... He is saying 'how many people will be killed.' 'How many people will perish, how many people will be destroyed, how many people will be subjected to treatment like animals.' This statement will remain a disgrace in our political history. You can never, ever attribute such behaviors or adjectives to the country you govern. If you do, you lower yourself. If you do, you divide society in two. You try to extract a future for yourself from a divided society. And what happened when you did? What happened? You have been governing the country alone for 23 years, right? Which of the things you said in 2002 have been done in the country you have been governing alone for 23 years? Which one did you destroy or which one did you remove from being a problem? What did you say? Were bans the bane of this country? They were the bane. Did the bans end? Did they decrease or increase? Oh our people, oh Turkish nation, oh those who love the government, those who do not love the government. I am saying this to all of you together.

In 2002, when the President was asking for votes from the nation and requesting to be in power, what did he say? He said, 'Bans do not suit this country. You cannot govern the country with bans.' I am saying to him 23 years later, are you in the same place? When you are now doing the things you condemned and shamed, does what you said yesterday not come to your mind at all? You said 'corruption.' You said 'corruption is the bane of this country.' Were you able to start a cleanup by accepting yourself, your party, your municipality, your government, and yourself as the center, and starting from there to prevent corruption? No. You forgot yourself and started with others.

And while starting, the goal is not to create a clean society, a society where there is no corruption, no theft, no impudence. It is a political investigation, a political move. This is not right. You are the one who complained about the high cost of living 20 years ago and asked for votes because of it. 23 years later, you are saying what I am saying. I am saying that the nation is suffering from this high cost of living. You are also saying that the nation is suffering. How does this work?"

After the meeting, it was reported that Bahattin Durmaz, who was described as "a founder of the Motherland Party (ANAP) and having held high-level positions in the AKP," joined the National Way Party.
