Names mentioned for the Saadet Party chairmanship have been revealed! Who is standing out?

Saadet Party Chairman Temel Karamollaoğlu is preparing to step down. The extraordinary congress where the party will elect its new chairman will be held in Ankara on June 30.

According to a report by Ceren Bayar from Gazete Duvar, the candidate to replace Karamollaoğlu at the congress, which the Saadet Party defines as the 'Change and Expansion Congress,' will be determined through a preference poll.

It has been learned that the party leadership requested that congress delegates, as well as provincial and district chairmen, propose three names each for the preference poll. The submitted names were compiled and presented to Chairman Karamollaoğlu.

KARAMOLLAOĞLU WILL OPEN 3 OR 5 NAMES FOR DISCUSSION

Karamollaoğlu will open the 3 or 5 most recommended names on the list for evaluation at a meeting to be held in Ankara on Sunday. A negotiation will be conducted over these names, and an attempt will be made to reduce the number to 1. The party's provincial inspectors, provincial chairmen, and members of the General Administrative Board will attend the meeting. In the words of party sources, a kind of second preference poll will be held. If a consensus is reached at this meeting, the congress will proceed with a single candidate.

'IF WE UNITE BEHIND A SINGLE CANDIDATE, WE WILL EMERGE STRONGER FROM THE CONGRESS'

Stating that he hopes the process will proceed healthily, a party official said, “If the process works healthily, we will have determined the chairman candidate through a joint preference poll and discussion. There is an effort to unite behind a colleague who stands out in the preliminary selection. If we achieve this unity, we will emerge stronger from the congress.”

Party sources stated that if the candidate determination process works healthily, they do not expect an intra-party opposition to form or for a rival candidate to emerge.

'IT WOULD BE AN ADVANTAGE FOR THE CHAIRMAN TO BE A MEMBER OF PARLIAMENT'

Speaking at his party's group meetings, Karamollaoğlu was watching the General Assembly from the gallery because he is not a member of parliament. Party sources are of the opinion that it is an advantage for the new chairman to be a member of parliament in terms of the party's political activities, and they say it would not be a surprise if the organization makes a preference in this direction.

According to Saadet party circles, the names of Istanbul Deputy Birol Aydın, Kayseri Deputy Mahmut Arıkan, Deputy Chairmen Fatih Aydın and Ömer Abdullah Ayhan, and Istanbul Provincial Chairman Ömer Faruk Yazıcı are standing out for the chairmanship candidacy. As a result of the congress, it is expected that the management will be rejuvenated and the number of women in party organs will increase.

KARAMOLLAOĞLU WILL BE A YİK MEMBER

Karamollaoğlu is expected to complete the political party visits he planned to make in recent months but postponed due to health problems before the congress. It is noted that Karamollaoğlu will continue in politics as a member of the High Advisory Board (YİK) after the congress.
