The CHP Central Executive Committee will meet today at 12:00 PM. Following the CEC meeting, the Party Assembly meeting will begin at 4:00 PM. After the PA meeting, chaired by Özgür Özel, candidates for nearly 300 electoral districts will be announced to the public. On the other hand, the party will also largely finalize its advertising campaign for the March 31, 2024 local elections during the PA meeting.
According to the report by Mustafa Bildircin from BirGün, the highly anticipated cities of Adana, Mersin, and Aydın will be among those whose candidates are planned to be announced today. In these cities, where no surprises are expected, the party will continue with Zeydan Karalar, Vahap Seçer, and Özlem Çerçioğlu. According to information obtained from party sources, the CHP's Samsun and Kocaeli candidates will also be announced to the public tomorrow.
Following the Court of Cassation 3rd Chamber's decision on Can Atalay, the candidate determination process in the CHP, which had been paused, will accelerate. In this context, candidates for cities that have completed their organization-supervised primary elections will also be finalized at the PA meeting. Candidates who stood out in the primary election in Trabzon, one of the notable cities, will also be made official. Candidates for cities such as Giresun, Kırklareli, and Zonguldak are also among those expected to be announced.
ÇANKAYA CANDIDATE WILL NOT BE ANNOUNCED THIS WEEK
During the Party Assembly meeting, which is expected to last a long time, CHP officials will also discuss the candidates for the yet-to-be-announced Istanbul districts and Ankara's districts. However, unless there is a change, the CHP's Çankaya candidate will not be announced this week. The names of candidates for major districts such as Yenimahalle, Mamak, and Keçiören will be shared with the public.
The CHP's highly anticipated İzmir candidate is not expected to be announced this week either. Party sources say that the announcement of the İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor candidate will take until the second half of January. On the other hand, it is rumored that the party will officially launch its election campaign along with its candidates in February.
