Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that Jerusalem will always belong to Israel, marking the anniversary of the occupation of East Jerusalem by Israel in 1967. Netanyahu published a video on the social media platform X from one of the tunnels located in the Old City of East Jerusalem, which extends beneath the Al-Aqsa Mosque.

In the video, Netanyahu said, "The old and new Jerusalem are in our hands and will always remain in our hands," claiming that the structures uncovered in the tunnels belong to his ancestors. He also stated that on this day, known as Jerusalem Day, Israel is allocating significant resources to settlements around East Jerusalem.
As is the case every year, fanatical Israelis held provocative flag marches in East Jerusalem on Jerusalem Day. During these marches, attacks against Palestinians occurred, and slogans were chanted against Muslims. Furthermore, more than 2,000 Israelis raided the Al-Aqsa Mosque, escalating tensions.
