New actions by the trustee-run Esenyurt Municipality: They bought suits with municipal funds!

The government's pressure on the opposition and opposition-led municipalities is increasing day by day. Most recently, in the 'corruption' operations conducted against the IMM, 51 people, including IMM Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, were arrested. Judicial control measures were also decided for 41 individuals.

Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, Beylikdüzü Mayor Mehmet Murat Çalık, and Şişli Mayor Resul Emrah Şahan were arrested on March 23.

İmamoğlu was also acquitted in the city consensus investigation. While intense developments were unfolding regarding the IMM, another investigation was launched into the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality.

Regarding the ABB, the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office wrote a memorandum to the Ministry of Interior to investigate allegations of irregularities in concert expenditures by the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality, which is alleged to have paid 810 million lira for concerts over 67 months. The Inspection Board has also launched an investigation.

EXPENDITURE BY TRUSTEE-RUN MUNICIPALITY DRAWS ATTENTION

Amidst all these developments, the expenditures made by the Esenyurt Municipality, which had previously been placed under a trustee, are drawing attention. It has emerged that 21,323 TL was spent from the municipality's budget to purchase five suits, along with five shirts and five ties.

While the use of public resources for such expenditures has sparked reactions, it has become a matter of curiosity as to who purchased suits with municipal funds.

Previously, expenditures on gold-plated toilets in municipalities such as Diyarbakır and Sur, where trustees were appointed, had also been on the agenda.
