An important development has occurred in the ongoing investigation case into the Antalya Metropolitan Municipality. In the hearing held on March 18, 2026, former Antalya Police Chief İlker Aslan, businessman Fazıl Ateş, and Kanal V owner Mehmet Okan Kaya had been released by the court. However, upon the prosecutor's objection, these three individuals were re-arrested today.

Following the interim decision made yesterday in the investigation case into the Antalya Metropolitan Municipality, it was decided that the detention of Muhittin Böcek, who was removed from his position as mayor, and his son Mustafa Gökhan Böcek would continue. Other detainees had been released.

THE DISPUTE BETWEEN ÖZGÜR ÖZEL AND AKIN GÜRLEK

During the hearing, the statements made by Minister of Justice Akın Gürlek sparked significant controversy. Gürlek had stated that there was a possibility of Muhittin Böcek becoming a whistleblower and that there were allegations that Özgür Özel had demanded money from Böcek for his candidacy.

On the other hand, prosecutors Yakup Ali Kahveci and Mehmet Akif Katırcı, who had prayed for Muhittin Böcek's release at an iftar program, were removed from their posts in Antalya and assigned to other duties.
