New group to be established in the Turkish Parliament

The Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) is preparing to take a new step in international parliamentary diplomacy. Under the leadership of Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş, a "Parliamentarians for Palestine Group" is being established. The group aims to serve as an inter-parliamentary solidarity platform to defend the fundamental rights of the Palestinian people and raise awareness in the international public opinion.

ERDOĞAN WILL ALSO ATTEND THE SUMMIT

According to the statement made by the TBMM, the first meeting within the scope of the group will be held in Istanbul on April 18. Parliament speakers and deputies from 13 different countries, including the host TBMM, will attend the meeting. President and AKP Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan is also expected to attend the summit and deliver a speech.

The meeting is planned as a platform for cooperation and consultation expected to serve as a reference in the field of parliamentary diplomacy. The structure, formation, and roadmap to be followed by the Parliamentarians for Palestine Group will be shaped at this meeting. Furthermore, it is anticipated that a joint declaration will be issued by the participating parliaments at the end of the meeting.

BILATERAL CONTACTS WILL BE HELD

The parliament speakers and deputies attending the meeting will also hold bilateral contacts within the scope of the summit. With this diplomatic initiative, it is aimed to draw attention to the humanitarian catastrophes occurring in the occupied Palestinian territories, especially in Gaza, and to advocate for the two-state solution perspective more strongly in the international arena.

The long-term goals of the group include increasing the number of countries that recognize the State of Palestine, creating a common voice against human rights violations in the occupied territories, and bringing the Palestinian cause to the agenda more effectively on global platforms.
