Abdullah Öcalan, the leader of the separatist terrorist organization PKK, made assessments regarding the "right to hope" in a meeting with his lawyers, citing a decision by the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR). Following the meeting, the Asrın Law Office shared Öcalan's statements with the public.
According to the lawyers, Öcalan stated that the principle of the "right to hope" is a step the state must take, saying, "It needs to remove this baggage. It is an issue that affects thousands of people. It must be done from a legal perspective. Both politics and justice require this."

Following the terrorist leader Öcalan's remarks, the DEM Party made a notable statement on its social media account.
The party's announcement stated that a march for the freedom of Abdullah Öcalan will be held in Diyarbakır on October 18, 2025.
The statement said, "A march will be held in Amed by youth organizations, including our Youth Assembly. All our people, especially the youth, are invited to the march, which will take place from Alipınar Bridge to the Ben u Sen Bastion at 17.00. Free working and living conditions must be provided for Öcalan, who is the main actor of the Peace and Democratic Society Process."
