New party move from Özgür Özel: Date and number of deputies announced

CHP Aydın Deputy Süleyman Bülbül made important statements to party members at a meeting of members and delegates held in Karacasu. The meeting addressed the discussions surrounding the period following the chairmanship elections and the party's extraordinary congress process.

CRITICAL DATES IN THE EXTRAORDINARY CONGRESS PROCESS

Bülbül emphasized that the party administration "should be determined by the will of the party base, not by the intervention of the Palace," and called for a harsh approach to the leadership discussions within the CHP. He stated that the developments following the March 31, 2024 local elections have harmed the party's democratic functioning and recalled that the party headquarters was "entered by police and AFAD" on May 24.

Reiterating the criticism that the spirit of opposition has been exhausted within the party, Bülbül opposed rumors that the current administration, which came to office by court order, would determine the candidates in election preparations. "The court decision I examined with my legal identity only covers the administration before the 38th Congress; there is no situation that creates an obstacle to the process," he said.

NUMBER OF SIGNATURES ANNOUNCED

Highlighting the agenda of the extraordinary congress, Bülbül underscored that convening the congress is mandatory under Article 48 of the party charter. Stating that a total of 1,003 delegate signatures, at least 833 of which are notarized, have been submitted to the headquarters, Bülbül said, "The signatures can be checked quickly. If the goal is not to organize a congress, it is not possible to protect the party administration until the election and to provide real opposition to the government."

Stating that the current CHP administration must respond to the extraordinary congress request by July 11, Bülbül warned, "If the congress is not held before July 26, legal problems may arise regarding the party's participation in the elections."

SIGNAL OF A NEW PARTY

Touching upon recent polls, Bülbül said, "Under the leadership of Özgür Özel, the CHP finds support between 32-35 percent; under the administration of Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, this rate drops to 2-5 percent."

Bülbül argued that the Court of Cassation should conclude the "absolute nullity" file in a short time and made the following statement: "If the absolute nullity case of the Republican People's Party is overturned by the Court of Cassation by July 20, we will come to power as the locomotive of the entire opposition together with our elected Chairman Özgür Özel. If it is not overturned, God willing, a new sun will rise after July 21. We will press the button for this new formation with nearly 100 of our 111 deputies after trying all legal avenues if a new formation occurs. We are not running away; we are changing the form of the struggle. As İsmet İnönü said; 'A new world will be established, and Turkey will take its place there.' We will all take our places."

Stating that if the administration does not respond positively to the call for an extraordinary congress in the CHP, they will request the establishment of a call committee from the Civil Court of Peace, Bülbül pointed out that the coming weeks could completely change the internal party balances.
